Kentucky Legislative Research Commission (LRC)

The LRC gives graduate students in law school or relevant programs like public administration, social work, or public policy the unique opportunity to work with a legislative committee and learn the basic skills of drafting bills, conducting public policy research, and providing support for legislative committee meetings.

LRC Graduate Fellows Quick Facts:

  • The LRC Graduate will work 1,000 hours, mid-May through mid-August for 37.5 hours (totaling 500 hours) and mid-August through mid-April for 20 hours (totaling 500 hours). The latter period will include a Session of the General Assembly.
  • Thanksgiving through January 1st, Fellows will be excused from LRC responsibilities to allow them to focus on end-of-semester coursework.
  • LRC Graduate Fellows will receive a stipend of $13.50 per hour.

Interested Students:

  • To apply send a resume, cover letter explaining career interest and goals, and one writing sample to the address below by January 16 2009.
  • Interviews are conducted during January and early February 2009.
  • Notification of selection will be sent out mid to late February.
  • The fellowship will begin May 18, 2009.
